Help your child read better

I have been lucky enough to have been asked to review Big Beard the Pirate: A Magic Meadow Tale – The Adventures of Francesca Spaghetti and Poppy Noodle.

Our heroes are Francesca Spaghetti and Poppy Noodle, twin sisters with the most awesome names, who are just normal children.

However, when they visit the Magic Meadow they are granted magical abilities.

As much fun as that sounds, the sisters end up getting into a lot of trouble! And things really hot up when they meet Big Beard the Pirate.

And this is one mean pirate! He’s on the run from all manner of sea-faring folk and he’s after the riches contained in a treasure chest.

It is Francesca Spaghetti and Poppy Noodle who use their magical powers and return the treasure chest to its rightful owner.

This is the first book from children’s author Harald Davidson. It’s a good book that will appeal to many young readers.

I think the two sisters are great role models too. They are sensible, fun and intelligent – three important characteristics all children should aspire to become.

There is no doubt many young readers will really enjoy this book, and be waiting with excitement for the next in the series.

Why? Because, as the author asks, “Have you ever wanted to have a Magic Power? How would you use it?”
