When his employee, Bob Cratchit asked to have a holiday on Christmas, Scrooge retorts, “Christmas, bah humbug!” but begrudgingly gives him the day off with pay.
On Christmas Eve he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley who tells him that three ghosts will visit him soon.
The ghosts reveal the truth
Scrooge is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come.
These ghosts show him how wicked he has been.
The Ghost of Christmas Present took him to Bob Crachit’s home. Chatchit has a crippled son named “Tiny Tim”.
The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come shows Scrooge a future Christmas at the Cratchit home. In this future, Tiny Tim died at a young age.
These three ghosts envince Scrooge that he must repent of his miserly ways and becomes generous. The next morning, Scrooge awakens and does indeed become a transformed man, helps the Cratchits and learns that being generous is better than being a miser.
People are surprised by this transformation, but are happy to see it.
I recommend that you read A Christmas Carol or watch a movie about this wonderful story.
